  • CS-E4675 - Full Stack Web Development (5-7 ECTS)

    The course Full Stack Web Development is offered by the University of Helsinki (see https://fullstackopen.com/). It is offered fully online. To complete the course and include it into your studies at Aalto, attend the course as follows.

    Complete the course following the guidelines at https://fullstackopen.com/, also taking the exam at the University of Helsinki. Contrary to the guidelines on the site, take the course with at least 5 ECTS (i.e. the 3 ECTS version is not accepted). Once you have completed the course, submit the course certificate and a link to "opintopolku" (My Studyinfo service) that contains the official certificate.

    Guidelines for "opintopolku" are as follows:

    Completed studies are entered into the My Studyinfo service which is maintained by the Finnish National Agency for Education. You can use them to evidence your studies, for example, to institutions of education or employers.

    The My Studyinfo service contains all of your rights to study and completed studies at institutions of higher education from 1995 onwards.

    • To get a certificate from My Studyinfo, log in to the My Studyinfo with online banking codes, Mobile ID or an ID card with a chip.
    • After you have logged in to My Studyinfo, you will receive a link for saving the information on your completed studies or sharing it with other people or organisations, share that link to us.

      Once you have completed the course, submit the course certificate and the transcript (or a link to your "Opintopolku") using this form. Submitted transcripts are processed following the grading schedule outlined at https://fitech101.aalto.fi/grading-schedule/.

      Once the transcript is processed, the course is graded. Upgrading credits is not possible and thus, if you plan to complete the course with 7 ECTS, do not submit the request with e.g. 5 ECTS.

    • Frequently asked questions

      • Question: I have taken the course CS-E4675 with 5 ECTS. Could I upgrade my course to 7 ECTS? Answer: No.

      • Question: I previously did the CS-E4670. Could I take CS-E4675 as well? Answer: Technically, this is possible. Including both CS-E4670 and CS-E4675 in your degree is not possible, however.

      • Question: The Full Stack MOOC offered by the University of Helsinki offers more than 7 ECTS. Could I take the CS-E4675 with e.g. 8 credits? Answer: No. The upper limit is 7 ECTS. Note that you can of course complete the Full Stack MOOC at the University of Helsinki with more credits, which will be in your University of Helsinki study transcript.

      • Question: I have previously completed the Full Stack MOOC at the University of Helsinki, but when CS-E4670 was available, did not request for credits for that course. Could I still get credits for CS-E4670? Answer: No. CS-E4670 is no longer available in the new study programme that started in 1.8.2022.

      • Question: I completed the Full Stack MOOC offered by the University of Helsinki with more than 7 ECTS. Which credits will be included in CS-E4675? Answer: The basic version of the course (and its grade), and any subsequent parts up to 7 ECTS.
