    B. Partitiivi: Mitä sä syöt? Mitä sä ostat?

    
    

    1. Make a list of five things that you might eat and drink for lunch. Make the partitive form of the words.  

    Here are the formation rules to help you: 

    
    

    kahvi -> kahvia

    • 1 vowel at the end -> a/ä

    • doesn’t apply if the vowel is e

    
    

    tee -> teetä, olut -> olutta

    • 2 vowels at the end -> ta/tä

    • consonant at the end -> ta/tä

    
    

    tuore –> tuoretta

    • e  at the end: tta/ttä 

    
    

    suomalainen -> suomalaista 

    •nen -> sta

    
    

    
    

    2. Take turns asking each other: Mitä sä syöt lounaaksi? Mä syön… (For example: Mä syön perunaa, tofua, porkkanaa ja kaalia. Juon vettä.

    
    

    3. Make a list of five foods that you need to buy. Make the partitive form of the words.

    
    

    4. Take turns asking each other: Mitä sä tarvitset kaupasta? = What do you need from the (grocery) store?  Mä tarvitsen…

    Read the dialogues on page 57/77 out loud together. Pay attention to what forms the words are in. Why is the partitive used in each case? Use page 62/83 to help you.
