This studio course looks at contemporary art publishing as an ecosystem of overlapping identities and diverse practices with the shared aim of making public. The course encourages you to explore the potential of publishing in relation to your own work and as a hospitable environment for collaborative projects investigating common interests with other practitioners. With distribution of ideas in mind, you work towards identifying, cultivating and utilising different and sometimes hidden elements of your own practice.

Within this context, you will realise a practical project in the form of a publication, either individually or in small groups. The theoretical framework is outlined through lectures and site visits to access publishing practices focusing on various key areas of the ecosystem. You develop ideas and content for your course assignment in personal tutorials and group discussions. Practical support for material and production concerns will be available throughout the course.
