Listening test results + auditory modeling
You should now monitor the results from your own listening tests and also analyse the sound files using an auditory model.
The outcome is a powerpoint file with max 10 pages. Only one person from the group needs to submit the file.
Pls find an example presentation as a pdf file. You should submit a powerpoint with sounds included.
1) Include the sound files into the powerpoint presentation. Explain in the presentation why did you take them into the test. Tell us what was assumed to be the result from the test when selecting the sounds.
2) Find your results from the zip file included in this announcement. Type the listening test responses from pdf files to matlab, and plot them using matlab function boxplot. Include the boxplot figure to the powerpoint file. Discuss if the result fits to your assumptions of the result.
3) Analyze the sound files using an auditory model. Check below the example file AMautoXXX.m taken from the book. You have to download auditory filtering toolbox as instructed in the example file. Note, that the example file performs also autocorrelation analysis for quite short time window. Pitch perception is not needed in most of the tasks, and if you do, then you can also experiment with longer windows. If you dont need it, then just perform the auditory filtering with half-wave rectification and low-pass filtering, and then write your own code.
There will be a workshop on tuesday 17.10 at 10:30 in Otakaari 5, Karjalainen, where the groups present the results.
In addition, on each of you will have an individual oral exam with Pedro, and you have to explain what does your auditory model do, and why did you make it to do that.
