Completion requirements
Due: Thursday, 24 October 2019, 5:00 PM
Teossarja, aiheena omakuva

Why do artists make self portraits?

- ”You're always available to pose for yourself, and it's one way of keeping busy if you're not doing anything else. It's also a way of charting your progress in a way, to see how far you’ve come, if you have at all, from the last time you did one.” -- Taffetta

- "It's a window to the soul. A perception, not necessarily a likeness, unless you're doing it to practice your skills.” -- Ruthi

- “If you cannot capture the essence of your own self, how are you to capture the essence of someone else?” -- Bridgetbrow

- ”The most important reason is because the creative process is one of self discovery and realization and not just technical know-how. "-- Gary O

THE FIVE STAGES OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS:

1. PREPARATION (Background research etc, sub-conscious)

2. INCUBATION (Give it time: it's something you cannot really rush)

3. INSIGHT (The ‘Eureka’ moment)

4. EVALUATION (Requires self-criticism and reflection)

5. ELABORATION (“1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”, hard work and labour)

- do some deep thinking and research: who am I, what is important to me, how do i perceive the world, what do I want to tell about myself?

- write down three words that best describe you (character, aspirations, interests). Start to work on those three words.

- prepare a presentation of your idea, include text and images/ valmistele presentaatio ideastasi, tekstinä ja kuvin (Google slides).

For critique / kritiikiin:

- Present a series of photographs titled "Self Portrait".
