Assignment 4 - VR Mechanic
In this assignment, you are starting to prepare for the final project.
Design Document
Prepare a design document for your final project. You can find an example discussion in Step 5
.Building a Game Design Document (https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/unit-2-vr-game-development-and-prototyping)
Keep it small and concise as we're only developing the VR scene only for 2 weeks, so many points might be overkill to discuss in large detail. You can start building your team in case you want to work in a group. Even in the case of a group-based final project, please submit a design document individually (possibly identical to those of your teammates). Please find attached a template for the Design Document. The final does not need to be a game, anything sensible for the VR medium is welcome.
Explore Mechanics
Choose a new VR mechanic that is necessary for your final project and start exploring it. Make a small VR project using this mechanic. You can start a new project or reuse any previously developed components.
Suggested topics
- Special type of locomotion (world pull, teleports, ...)
- Hand-tracking
- Integration of 360 video material
- Grab objects and interactables
- UI displays (world-centered or body-centered)
- Spatial Sound integration
- etc.
If you have trouble finding what you need, post on slack your suggested goal and possible ideas of interactions. In case, you work in a group, split the necessary mechanics among the team members such that everyone can become an 'expert' for this mechanic. Therefore, also this assignment has still an individual submission.
Deliverables
- .apk (demonstrating the mechanic) + a short description explaining the idea
- Design Document for the final project
