Reading group report
Completion requirements
Due: Wednesday, 18 August 2021, 1:00 PM
To pass the course every student needs to participate in at least 5 reading group discussions. The purpose of the reading group discussions is to deepen your understanding of the reading material and to provide peer support with the relatively difficult articles and heavy workload. It is important to maintain an appreciative and respectful atmosphere in the reading groups.
You can freely choose the agenda for each discussion. You may want to discuss the main points in the articles, their relevance from your point of view and how for example relevant the articles are given some larger societal context. Regardless of the agenda, it is important that everyone participates actively in the discussion. The suggested length for the reading group discussions is 1,5h. The agenda might include:
- How everyone is doing and how they did with reading the articles
- Main ideas and thoughts that arose from reading the articles
- Consider connecting themes between the articles
- Consider implications and relevance of the articles
- Consider relevant omissions and unanswered questions
After a meeting one of the participants should write a one-page summary of the discussion. The summary should include the participants, your agenda, the discussed material, how the discussion unfolded, the key themes and insights, and an overall assessment about the meeting.
The reports can be submitted through myCourses or sent by email to peter.kentta@aalto.fi.
