Workshop 3. How to create a neighbourhood?
Task: How to create a neighbourhood?
You have explored the different qualities of our site (Workshop 1.) and their adaptability (Workshop 2.), now we ask you to take on the work of the previous workshops, and consider an area (1/6 of the whole site) and answer the following question:
- What kind of resilient neighbourhood could this area be in a sustainable future?
- Through what kinds of processes have we arrived at this future?
Create a vision for a future for your given area, for
the year 2075, but in your presentation, indicate the adaptability and
potential for change in the area – what will be most fixed, what most
flexible considering even the distant future?
Focus on only your area - the area divisions can be seen in the file Basemap_A3_2000_areas.pdf
Materials from Workshop 1 & 2: Workshop 1. Materials and Workshop 2. Materials
Upload a draft of your vision already on the morning of the 16th of February in the folder Workshop 3. draft. These will be put on MyCourses, so we can all see what kinds of things are happening in different ‘areas’ of our site.
The presentation
The form of the presentation is free (number of pages, presentation methods, etc.) except these conditions: the file format has to be .pdf; and your presentation has to end with one 'map' of your area, where you show your vision for 2075. In your presentation, comment on all the different qualities we have explored in previous workshops: Flora & Fauna, Topography & the Blue, The Built Environment, Social & Cultural qualities, Infrastructure & Services, Mobility & Connections.
The presentation should contain only material you produce yourself - text, analytical drawings, maps, etc. (these can be based on existing material, like the base map or satellite images).
Keep the presentation short - be prepared to present the work in 10 minutes. All members of the team should speak during the presentation, but it will be efficient if only one member of the team shares the screen.
Goal of the Workshop
By synthesizing the different qualities of our site in a partial vision, we get a collage of possible futures – a many sided starting point for individual exploration of an urban design.
Upload the presentation as a pdf-file before noon, on the 23rd of February.
