Week 4 assignments
Completion requirements
Due: Tuesday, 5 February 2019, 12:00 AM
This week you will have the following things to do:
- Generate a common map/view of all the game ideas that we have discovered/found so far. In order to achieve this, you need to first upload the raw materials (photos and earlier presentation slides) to the common folder, and then work out the structure. Each team has to generate their own "map" - this is my recommendation, as otherwise you need to do a lot of coordination across all the teams. The map can be made with different tools / formats, e.g. a mind map, concept map, or collage (like pinterest). Earlier I helped to create some categories based on the games considered (e.g. board games, team-building games, etc.) I would see that this kind of map is the most useful.
- Create three game concepts, where you have carefully considered the a) utility, b) feasibility and c) engagement. Utility means the 'impact' of the game, i.e. to get something done through it, or learn new skills with it. Feasibility means the technical and implementational potential of the idea. Think in terms of concrete sensors, arduino, actuators, etc. And try to avoid repetitive tasks/components. Engagement is about the ability of your game to function as a game that people really like and want to use.
Upload your results to the group's Google Drive folder as well as here into MyCourses as PDF files (2 files/team).
Remember to keep diary and track your hours! There is also a good sensor exercise this week at the lab.
