Student IP and Copyright
As this is a 'client project' model course, there is a contract between the ministries and Aalto University for each project brief. The IP of all concerned (students, university, ministries) is protected with an additional agreement that students sign - read here. The purpose of the IP is to make the information of benefit to all and with due credit to you. This agreement establishes how the public materials produced in the course can be used (including mid-review and final slides, final show video, and final report) with due credits to you! You and the ministries can use the materials for further development, DfG/Aalto can use the materials for communicating/recruiting in the course. Any proprietary or private information should not be in those public materials and can be discussed separately if needed. Please don't hesitate to raise any questions about this!
Maria Rehbinder is our legal council at Aalto University, and she provides this advice for stating credit for the deliverables in DfG.
In deliverables made public or given to client:
All deliverables (slides, reports, etc.) should include a “copyright notice” specified as Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 2019 Student names, Course name Aalto University. For example, “Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 2018 Name1, name2, name3, and Design for Government course at Aalto University”
When spreading course materials, remind the recipient of the copyright above.
For your CVs and portfolios:
All the materials can of course be included in your CVs and portfolios! Include the copyright notice (1. above).
