Topic outline

  • General

    • The course New Materials and Means of Production aims at extending the knowledge and capability of the students in dealing with emerging materials and technologies, methods of production, and product concept development through prototyping, visualizations, and explorative designs methods. The students also gain a basic understanding of conducting research into materials or methods and writing scientific texts.

Each year, this cross-disciplinary course is designed based on a specific topic generally arranged in collaboration with external institutions and companies or with other departments or schools at Aalto University.

The main topic of the 2019 New Materials and Means of Production course is devised in collaboration with the School of Chemical Engineering. The detailed description of the course content is further explained under the Assignments Section.

      IMPORTANT NOTE:

The registration for this course opens on February 25th. This is an online course, which consists of a virtual lab space + digital exam, covering the basic lab safety issues.

The students will not be granted access to the ChemArts Laboratories or the ABio laboratories to conduct their material tests unless this safety course is accomplished.
