We are excited to host the poster session at the end of the Research Methods in Psychology course (CS-C4000), where students get to present and discuss the insights from their very first empirical study.
In the poster session, at least two students of a group will be present at their poster and give a 3-5 minute presentation to a poster visitor, focusing on their project's main achievements. Visitors to your posters will be other students of the course or teachers in the engineering psychology program. One group of visitors will be Laura and Robin, who will evaluate your work. The evaluation will consider the entire project, emphasizing the poster's quality and the presentation's clarity. Here’s your guide to making the most of this session.
Evaluation Criteria
Your project will be evaluated based on:
Correctness (1-20): The accuracy of your information and analysis.
APA Guidelines (1-20): Your adherence to APA formatting and citation rules.
Presentation (1-20): The clarity, engagement, and organization of your oral presentation.
Replicability (1-20): How easily others can replicate your study based on your presentation.
Completeness (1-10): The thoroughness of your research and presentation.
Visualization (1-10): The effectiveness and clarity of your visual aids and poster design.
Presentation Tips
Highlight Key Aspects: With a brief presentation window, focus on your methodology, significant findings, and the research's importance.
Use Visuals Effectively: Ensure your poster is visually engaging, using diagrams, graphs, and images to make your points clearer.
Practice Makes Perfect: Rehearse your talk to ensure smooth delivery and adherence to the time limit.
Coordinate as a Team: With two members always at the poster, decide who will address the questions and who will present the poster. If the presenter or the responder needs help feel free to chime in anytime.
Interactive Session and Rewards
Visit Every Poster: Students are encouraged to explore all posters, engaging with each group's work to enrich their learning experience.
Stickers for Points: Points for asking and answering questions will be awarded through stickers placed on the posters, fostering an interactive and engaging session.
Prizes for Participation and Design: The most interactive attendee and the group with the best-designed poster will receive prizes, encouraging excellence in both engagement and presentation.
Logistics
Duration: The session will last between 45-60 minutes, allowing ample time for interaction.
