Fitting thesis into your Personal Study Plan (PSP)

  • While making the (PSP) with their academic advisor, decide which thesis path - standard or intensive - you will follow and plan participation in the Thesis Seminar course accordingly. As a rule of thumb, most students should do the standard path.
    • Standard path starts in Period I (September), and the student submits their thesis at the end of May. In this path, the student works on the thesis part-time and takes courses part-time.
    • Intensive path starts in Period III (January), and the student submits their thesis at the end of July. In intensive path, the student works on thesis full time and does not take any courses. The only exceptions might be thesis-related courses, such as LCA-1020 Academic Communication for Master´s Students and LCA-1022 Academic Writing. The intensive path is recommended if, in the fall semester of the second year, the student (a) goes on an exchange, (b) does intensive minor studies, or (c) does an internship. There might also be other reasons that the student and the academic advisor need to discuss and agree upon.
  • After deciding which path you will take to complete the thesis, add the corresponding implementation of the MUO-E0018 Thesis Seminar to your PSP: for the standard path, add Thesis Seminar implementation 1 in periods I-V, and for the intensive path, add Thesis Seminar implementation 2 in periods III-V.

Thesis Seminar Kick-Off
  • Participate in the Thesis Seminar Kick-off at the end of the first year of studies.

Enrolling in Thesis Seminar in SISU
