Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

The focus of the course is on perception-based drawing in space. You will be able to observe and draw contours, scale, depth and perspective. You will develop in transferring the visual information into drawing. You will be able to represent structures and different qualities of textures through mark making.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

On site working in different destinations. Working on large scale drawings, in order to relate the space around and the drawing to the physical size of the drawer. How to represent three dimensional -, physical - and at the same time sensual experience of the space?

Details on the course content (applies in this implementation):

During the course each student will get the chance to approve their skills to perceive visible phenomenons of all kind witch are connected to observing and drawing the space.

Primary this will happen through personal practice according the assignments witch I as a teacher will tell in the beginning of each day of the course. I will presentate the program and the themes of this course properly in the beginning of this course.

Beside the actual work all the students will get the chance to have a dialogue with me as a teacher. and later on during the course we will observe the drawings also together with the whole group and have a comprehensive discussion about perception and drawing the space.

During this course we will do excursions throughout these five days in different interiors of Otaniemi campus area.

We will be drawing both on A4 drawing blocks, aswell as on litoposter paper on easels.

Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

Onsite working and exercises. Personal guidance, group discussions and critique.

Elaboration of the evaluation criteria and methods, and acquainting students with the evaluation (applies in this implementation):

The evaluation of this course will be consisted most of all from the motivation approved during the whole course. That is the most valuable matter when I give the grades after the course. For sure I look carefully through all the drawings and analyse all the different aspects of them when I have the verbal individual critics  with each student. For me as teacher the attitude of the student towards the learning processes and the actual practice is even more important than how sovereign individual drawings are.
