The course provides students with basic knowledge of philosophical aesthetics, its main concepts, and the way of thinking, argumenting and asking questions that is inherent in its perspective. Students will gain ability to apply this knowledge to relevant areas, also according to their own professional interests.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Contemporary aesthetic thinking is introduced with examples from the sphere of the art and by presenting relevant philosophical concepts. Environment, technology and the sphere of the everyday are also presented through the lens of philosophical and applied aesthetics. 

The perspective of philosophical aesthetics unfolds through lectures and discussions based on selected material. The course ends in preparation and presentation of a group task. Throughout the course, each student records his or her individual learning path in a dedicated learning diary.

Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Lectures, group assignment, learning diary. 50% of the grade is based on individual learning diary, 40% on group assignment, 10% on active participation during course meetings.
