Luovan kirjoittamisen työpajassa luetaan erilaisia mediatekstejä ja kaunokirjallisia tekstejä. Työpajaan sisältyy myös jonkin verran luento-opetusta.
Luentojen sekä luettujen tekstien ja niistä käytyjen keskustelujen pohjalta opiskelijat kirjoittavat erilaisia kaunokirjallisia tekstejä, joita ryhmässä myös luetaan ääneen.
Työpajassa analysoidaan ja työstetään eri tavoin (lukemalla, kirjoittamalla, muokkaamalla) esimerkiksi seuraavia tekstilajeja: journalistinen artikkeli, internet-tekstilajit, kuvateksti, essee, lyriikka, draama, lyhytproosa, proosa.
Työpajan tarkoitus on avata uutta perspektiiviä visuaalisen taiteen tekemiseen ja kriittiseen ajatteluun sekä vapauttaa luovuutta uusiin suuntiin. Pohdimme työpajassa myös sitä, millä tavoin tekstiä voi käyttää visuaalisen taiteen osana, tukena tai vierellä.
Työpajan tarkka sisältö muodostuu työpajaviikkojen aikana.

Typical ways of working are lectures, group discussions and practice works. Methods vary from workshop to workshop.

Työpajan suoritus arvioidaan opiskelijan aktiivisen läsnäolon ja tehdyn työn perusteella.
Työpajan aikana tuotetun kaunokirjallisen tekstin taiteellinen laatu ei vaikuta työpajan hyväksyttyyn suorittamiseen, vaan olennaista on työhön tarttuminen ja oman kirjoittajanäänen ahkera harjoittaminen.

Työpaja sisältää kuusi lähiopetuspäivää ja niiden välisinä aikoina tehtäviä kirjoitusharjoituksia, yhteensä 4 op.
Jos opiskelija työskentelee tätä enemmän, työpajasta on mahdollista saada enemmän opintopisteitä. Tästä opiskelija voi neuvotella opettajan kanssa.

Kurssimateriaali jaetaan työpajan alussa ja aikana. Se koostuu pääasiassa mediateksteistä ja kaunokirjallisista teksteistä.
Prerequisites (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
Workshops require knowledge of techniques and expression, that will be announced by the teacher.
Grading Scale (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
Pass- fail or 1-5, see workshop specific information from study event.
Registration for Courses (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
The order of priority is as follows: 1. students for whom the course is compulsory for their major/programme and who have scheduled it for the current academic year in their personal study plan (HOPS); 2. exchange students for whom the course is a part of his/her officially approved learning agreement and scheduled to be taken during the current semester; 3. students for whom the course is compulsory for their major/programme and who have not completed it yet; 4. students, for whom the course is part of his/her major’s or programme’s alternative studies and has been scheduled in the student's PSP (HOPS) for the current academic year 5. students, for whom the course is part of his/her major’s or programme’s alternative studies and who have not completed the requisite number of credits for alternative studies yet; 6. students for whom the course is compulsory for their minor; 7. students, for whom the course is part of his/her minor subject’s alternative studies and who have not completed the requisite number of credits for alternative studies yet; 8. students who have applied for the course through a student mobility scheme (internal mobility within Aalto University, flexible study right (JOO) studies etc.); 9. other students.

Työpajan tapaamiset pidetään pääpiirteittäin ilmoitettuna ajankohtana. Osia päivistä saatetaan tarpeen mukaan käyttää itsenäiseen työskentelyyn.
