On completing the course, you will be able:
- to talk in general terms about your daily routine and where you live
- to participate in simple conversations related to course topics with a supporting partner
- to find the main information needed on course themes from short texts (notices, etc.)
- to function in routine services and make basic enquiries.
- You will also know some basic features about housing and daily life in Finland
Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
- Expanding the vocabulary of common life (daily routines, telling time, shopping, housing, leisure time, travel, hotels).
- Expanding knowledge of basic Finnish structures (verb types 4–5, locative cases, second-person imperatives, general parts of speech, demonstrative pronouns).
- Practising simple conversations and routine service situations.
Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
Passing the course requires regular attendance (max. two absences allowed), active participation in class, and completion of the assigned homework. Written examination and oral examination. The weight of the various assignments in the final evaluation will be specified at the start of the course.

Target group: Degree students, doctoral students, and Aalto employees. Registration must be confirmed by attending the first lesson. Extra absences, if for compelling reasons, may be discussed (preferably in advance) with the teacher.
