Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Learning outcomes for this course, upon successful completion, include the ability to:
1) understand basic theories and concepts related to gender and diversity, 2) examine how gender is implicated in the roles assigned to, and played out by, men and women in work and other areas of life, 3) evaluate ways in which organizations can reconfigure existing structures to better achieve gender equity, and 4) recognize how gender is differently constructed and perceived across cultures.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

This course considers diversity in the international workplace from a gender perspective. It examines ways in which men and women are socialized, and may differently enter, and participate in, work life. Topics to be covered may include some or all of the following: gender construction, employment decisions, sex segregation of occupations, communication preferences, gender gap in earnings, confidence gap, work-life balance, cross-cultural diversity, gender and managerial behavior, leadership, best practices in gender equity, team work, the inclusion of non-gender-conforming individuals, and the intersection of gender and race. Case studies may be used to problematize gender issues in specific organizational contexts, and in society at large.
