IV (Spring 2018)

Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

1. Understanding of the structural behavior of solid timber and engineered wood products
2. Understanding the principles for the design of beam type elements (cross-sections subjected to stresses, stability of members, serviceability limits, fire exposure) and connections with metal type fasteners
3. Ability to design standard beam type elements and connections with metal type fasteners

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

- Wood as a building material (including mechanic properties, timber grading, engineered wood products)
- Basis of the design (including variability of the material properties, durability, moisture).
- Ultimate limit state design of cross-sections
- Stability
- Serviceability limit state design
- Connections with metal type fasteners: Type of connections, principles of the design

Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
