Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course student:

  1. Understands the basics of research and development (R&D) stage of chemical processes
  2. Can search information for market and carry out feasibility study
  3. Can draw process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation (PI) and layout drawings
  4. Can calculate material and energy balances and use of process simulation tools
  5. Can size the equipment, such as reactors, tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, pipes, control valves and solid handling
  6. Can select the appropriate construction materials
  7. Can understand energy savings and calculate heat integration by using pinch technology
  8. Can calculate process economics
  9. Can apply  environmental, health and safety (EHS) principles in design
