CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    This course is an introduction to academic research in arts and design. It discusses different types of research methodologies commonly used in arts and design, and provides an overview of the relevant qualitative, quantitative, visual, applied and artistic research methodologies and their related methods. A particular emphasis is given to those methodologies and methods used in visual communication design research. Lectures include group discussions and practical exercises on defining research questions and identifying suitable methodologies and methods to address the proposed research questions in the context of MA theses.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Students are required to: 1) attend and actively participate in at least 80% of the lectures, 2) develop a research plan as part of a course assignment, and 3) take a course exam based on a selected book.
