LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • understand the concepts of generativivity and interaction in storytelling
  • critically review and discuss narrative structures
  • produce and communicate an idea of their own as a synopsis (optional credits)

Students will get familiar with the challenges of creating narratives in interactive and generative environments through exercises in narrative styles and genres.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    During the course various styles and genres or narration as well as interaction will be explored and analyzed both in theory and through practical examples.

    The course will start with a few lectures in the subject and then turn into a seminar format where participants present case studies and discuss them.

    For completion students need to make one presentation of a case study, and for an optional additional +2 credits students can also write an present a synopsis of their own.

     

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Since participation in the seminar is fundamental, grading is based on a combination of course attendance and case study presentation.

    Missed seminar sessions can be compensated by short essays on the topic of the missed session.

Workload
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Full student workload is approximately 60h for participating in the seminar and an additional 40h for those who also make a synopsis (+2 ECTS)
