Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course has changing contents every year.
Upon completion of the course, the student can apply the theory behind one of the subjects of the course:
- Magnetic and insulation materials: Decribe materials used in elecctrical engineering; model magnetic materials behaviour; construct setups for material characterization; explain the physics behind magnetic, insulation and superconducting materials.
Treansients in electrical machine: Undesrtand the origine of electromagnetic transients; build transient models of different machines; solve transient problems and related behaviour of electrical machines.
Diagnostics and condition monitoring: Understand the operation of electrical machines under faulty operations; apply advanced signal processing methods for diagnostics of electrical devices; model the behaviour of the machine under faulty condition.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
The course has changing contents every year. The subject of the course is one of the following:
Magnetic and insulation materials.
Transients in electrical machine.
Diagnostics and condition monitoring.
Applies in this implementation:
In the teaching semester Spring 2021 the subject of the course is:
- Magnetic and insulation materials: Describe materials used in electrical engineering; model magnetic materials behavior; construct setups for material characterization; explain the physics behind magnetic, insulation and superconducting materials.
Assessment Methods and Criteria
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
Classroom participation 20%, homework 30%, assignement 50%
Applies in this implementation:
The teaching method is online lectures with strong group work sessions. The presence and active participation in the group work accounts for 20% of the grade.
There will be some homework to be returned within a given DL, the homework accounts for 30% of the grade. Two assignments will have to be solved and returned; they account for 50% of the course grade. A minimum of 30% from each evaluation component has to be accepted to pass the course.
Workload
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
Contact teaching 48 h, independent studies and work-based learning 86 h.
