Advanced skills for working and lighting in exterior locations. Practice based learning during workshop that develops the understanding and experience of working with a professional chief electrician (Gaffer). Experience of working as a head of department, management and scheduling students own and crews work.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Working and lighting scenes in demanding night exterior conditions. Given scene includes atmosphere and look that is supposed to be executed by students own plans. Student will work as a foreman for his / her crew. During workshop student will get familiar with a variety of different kinds of lighting equipment and other professional tools of cinematography.

    3rd. year BA-students of cinematography will work as electricians during the workshop.

    Final scenes will be also go through the colour grading process and they will be screened and evaluated together with other students, crew and teachers.

  • Applies in this implementation:

    MA filmdirecting students have written scenes to the course which they will cast from professional actors prior to the course start. Directors and DOPs  plan and shoot the scenes on location during the 2 weeks workshop. Each director directs one night scene of their own and works as the 1st AD (at least) on one other.

    The scenes will be edited by the directors, screened and discussed after the course on a separte day, which will be scheduled latest at the start of the course.

    Planning and work are evaluated during the workshop in checkpoints and during final screening by general discussion and feedback.
