LEARNING OUTCOMES

The students explores different artistic digital methods and their application to artistic work, design and execution. The students deepen their own digital skills and knowledge through research and independent work.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    A variety of currently interesting topics on digital subjects, methods or tools are explored together in short, case study-type sessions. The sessions will take notice of the current needs of the students. 

  • Applies in this implementation:

    ELO-E5027 - Digi Intro sessions are short, 1h 45 min sessions on digital tools and methods. In 2020-21 the Digi intro-sessions are divided into two categories: thesis-clinics and digital methods and tools-sessions. 

    In the thesis clinics-sessions (28.9.2020, 23.11.2020, 29.3.2021 and 26.4.2021) there’s an Q&A on the ongoing theses processes of the students, focusing on the layout, photography and other documentation questions on the thesis work.

    In the digital methods and tools-sessions (26.10.2020, 14.12.2020, 1.2.2020, 1.3.2020) we will focus on the Aalto Adobe CC-package for documentation, presentation and content creation. If the COVID-situation permits, the 14.12. session will be about 3D-sculpting in VR.

    The individual sessions will be announced in MyCourses prior to the dates.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    80% attendance. Development of skills during the course, motivation and constructive participation.

    For accepted credit, the student needs to be present and in time on the course. Absences can not exceed 20% of the courses total amount of hours. Absences must be discussed and agreed upon before hand with the course teacher (excluding sick leave). The student must compensate absences with extra assignments, that must be negotiated with the course teacher and returned in a set period of time.

    Lectures, demonstrations, discussions, presentations, screenings, analyses and research.

    Supervised work: 14 h
