LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course aims to provide students an opportunity to advance their Master’s thesis and to get support from a community of other thesis writers and the teacher.

After successful completion of the course, students will
- recognise their own challenges and strengths with thesis writing in English
- understand the thesis and its basic requirements as a whole
- have made a realistic implementation plan for their thesis
- have made concrete steps towards progress in their thesis
- have gained an understanding of the principles that support and give structure to the thesis writing process
- have the skills to further their thesis independently and systematically

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    The mental, social and practical challenges related to thesis writing such as
    -managing and learning practical tools for the various parts of the writing process
    -using different writing techniques as tools for organising knowledge and structuring the writing proces
    -writing the thesis in English, which may not be your mother tongue
    - understanding your thesis as a whole and writing systematically

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Passing the course requires the thesis implementation plan and carrying out the planned activities as agreed with the teacher. This includes attendance at the group meetings as well as the completion of the various tasks, which are designed to give further support to the thesis writing process.

    Group meetings 24-36h, individual work 45-57 h.
