LEARNING OUTCOMES
The student understands liquid flows at the micrscale. This includes understanding the scaling of forces and the difference between micro and macroscale system for liquid flow (balance of inertia, viscosity, surface forces etc.).The student understands laminar flow and diffusion and knows the operating principles of basic microfluidic components (channels, mixers, reactors, nozzles). The student is familiar with applications of microfluidics in the fields of analytical chemistry, cell biology and biomedical sciences. The student understands lab-on-chip and organ-on-chip concepts. The student is able to design a microlfuidic chip that satisfies the requirements for a specific application.
