LEARNING OUTCOMES

Student understands economic theory related to energy markets. Student is able to perform (simplified) professional calculations on profitability, operation and investment strategies in the energy sector, including issues related to latest technological and market developments. Student understands the operation principles of international fuel markets. Student understands the operation principles of international electricity markets. Student understands the operation principles of district heat markets in Finland. Student understands the main change trends in the energy sector and how energy and climate policy is affecting the energy sector. Student recognizes various ways of defining energy security and the challenges related to the definitions.
