Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

  • Provides general principles of structural mechanics
  • Gain a good qualitative understanding how structures deforms in order to resist the external loading and forced displacements through internal forces balancing such perturbing effects
  • Provides the fundamental knowledge to understand, and analyze the mechanical and stability behavior of load-bearing frame structures
  • Upon successfully completing this course, the student will understand the limitations of the models, assess their limitations when applied to realistic structures and will be able to give some reliability estimate for the analysis resulting from the application of the models
