1. Understands the most important concepts and theories of soil mechanics
2. Knows the most common and important design and analysis methods and tools of geotechnical engineering
3. Creates skills to use these methods and tools in simple ge-otechnical problems

    Ground investigations, stress distribution in the soil, calculation of settlements, bearing capacity of soil, stability, earth pressure, seepage, foundation methods including shallow foundations and piling, excavations, frost actions.
