- discuss contemporary design and media cultures and their phenomena verbally and visually.
- describe verbally and visually how their own work and aspirations relate to the broader historical and contemporary societal context.
- carry out a small video production project by designing, shooting, editing and presenting a short video narrative.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content

In this course, students familiarize themselves with international design and media history, main trends and discourses. The historical changes are studied in relation to the contemporary design and media culture. Each course session is supplemented with lectures, readings, documentary movies and video lectures, which students are expected to explore independently and to prepare to participate in the classroom discussions on them. Students must complete one group assignment, a video essay, during the course and present it to others at the end of the course.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

The final grade for the course is based on students attendance and participation in the contact teaching as well as the assignments that the students complete during the course.
Students must attend and actively participate in at least 80% of the contact teachings.
Workload

The total workload for the course amounts to 81 hours (I ECTS credits = 27 hours).
- Contact teaching (including final presentation) 24 hours
