CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

This course is organized with the collaboration of the Aalto University shop and engaged faculty enabling multidisciplinary teams of students to design and develop products for the shop inspired by some of the most amazing work done in Aalto: Satellite, ioncell, etc. Each time the course happens a different theme is chosen, a combination between the kind of products the shop can sell and an inspiration coming from the University research outcomes.

The course covers: project management; overview of the research being done in Aalto (eg. satellite); design thinking methods with a focus on design tools such as benchmarking, problem framing, ideation, prototyping; and the goal of the product in branding and marketing of the Aalto shop.

The shop becomes an educational platform: it gets unique products co-created by multidisciplinary students that serve as a window to the University reflecting its sustainable values and innovation. The students get hands-on experience, learn by doing, enriching their portfolio and develop their creative skills.
