Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course the student will be able to

  • calculate the thermodynamic quantities of chemical reactions and to explain the chemical equilibria using them
  • describe the working principle of an electrochemical cell and it s use for energy production and electrochemical analysis
  • calculate the phase equilibria of pure substances and to interpret simple phase diagrams
  • understand chemical kinetics of multi-step reactions and to solve the reaction rate law from elementary reactions
  • understand the basics of surface chemistry, especially phenomena on liquid surfaces.
