CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The course introduces students to important streams of design and media research as well as provides them with a foundation for incorporating empirical and practice-based research in their work.

     

    The course is organized around a lecture series and the preparation of a research plan. The research plans are developed in groups of students and supervised by topic experts who assist the students in formulating a topic and writing a plan on a pre-defined topic. Students reflect on their work in a learning diary throughout the course as well as summaries their work in a research plan which they deliver at the end of the course.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    The final grade for the course is based on the learning diary and the research plan.

    Students must attend and display active participation in at least 80% of the contact sessions for the course. Participation in the introduction lecture, mid and final presentation is mandatory.

Workload

    For students who started in 2020 in BA in Design(4 credits)
    Workload: The total workload for the course amounts to 110 hours (I ECTS credits = 27.3 hours).
    - Contact teaching 48 hours
    - Mid and final presentations 8 hours

    - Personal reflection 20 hours

    For students who started in 2019 in BA in Design (5 credits)
    Workload: The total workload for the course amounts to 137 hours (I ECTS credits = 27.3 hours).
