LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will become familiar with the specifics of documentary film production together with production students. The course will provide a basic understanding of the process of financing the development and production of a documentary film, but also the organization of the various phases of production from a production point of view, together with basic budgeting, cost reporting and tracking and of managing various filming and post production arrangements. The students will gain insight on pre-financing a documentary film production and on the sources of revenue from a film.

    The course introduces lectures, case study presentations and team work on the special features of documentary film production in collaboration with production students. The course will provide a basic understanding of the process of financing a documentary film, but also the organization of the various phases of production from a production point of view, basic budgeting and tracking, managing various filming and post production arrangements, etc.
