LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants with an intermediary to advanced set of skills and experience in areas of art design and ecology will spend an intensive period of time with peers and faculty with the objective of deepening, focusing and situating existing knowledge and engagements pertaining to critically ecological thinking and practice.

    The Field Ecology Intensive proposes an intensive period of transdisciplinary, research and reflection in a field location of key ecological significance. The course is designed as a collaboration between disciplines and possibly also departments. It is targeted at students with an existing interest in nature and culture in their art design, media or activist practice. It might be beneficial for students who are considering such concerns as part of their thesis.

    The precise emphasis and site of this course will change from year to year, depending upon the combination of faculty involved.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    InsideCourse Time: Lectures & in-class exercises (30%)

    Participation will be followed by a final presentation and a written reflection on the field work intensive process.

    42h Contact teaching, 93h independent work.

    As this is a participatory process, complete attendance is especially important for this off-campus workshop. The course is designed so that participants come with existing experiences, research projects or engagements and use these as means of critical reflection.
