LEARNING OUTCOMES

After taking this course the student knows the main phenomena, issues, and questions surrounding social media and digital communications in general. The student learns to analyse and critically think about social media based on academic discourses and research.

Content

    The goal of this course is to give a general view of so-called social media as a socio-technical phenomenon. The focus points are the major discourses in social media, the impacts on people and society, such as, the significance in politics and journalism and related ethical issues. 

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    The teaching consists of lectures, discussion groups, readings and exercises. The grading will be based on participation, exercises and final exam.
