LEARNING OUTCOMES

The students learn to work together efficiently on a project with a fixed deadline in an international team and with remote working constraints.  The students will learn project management competences while completing a data-intensive measurement study in the domains of Communications Engineering and Data science.

Content

    Must know: Project management tools and strategies, Time and self-management, efficient collaboration schemes, Version management, Academic reporting practices as well as reporting tools and structures, Risk assessment and management, Rules of good scientific practice, Performance comparison via learning curves,  Should know: Communication protocols, basics in signal processing, Internet Traffic Management and Analysis, Basic methods in Data Science, Basic programming and relevant libraries, e.g. Python, C++, C Nice to know: advanced skills in signal processing, communication protocols, Data Science or programming

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    The students will conduct a final presentation on their group project, which will be graded. In addition, students complete a report on their studies and project work, which will be evaluated. When appropriate, oral exams might be conducted and online questionnaires might be used to study learning progress during the course.

Workload

    Attendance to the course is compulsory.  Overall, the workload is approximately 162 hours, with roughly 10 hours of lectures and 152 hours of independent group and individual work. The course does not necessarily involve contact teaching since some lecturers are providing their instructions via remote teaching methods.
