CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    Design of a building with the precision of working and partial drawings. Preparation of a building report. Introduction to the architect's on-site duties

    During the construction documents coursestudents will get to know the construction process and its different phases. The course main objective is to present the importance of well-designed drawings and details as a vital part of the profession of an architect. The course also emphasizes on how to translate ideas into drawings and details, which eventually will be constructed into a building. 

     

    During this course, the students learn to design a building at the level of working drawings and detail drawings. A construction specification is drafted. 

    Once passed the course, students will have a good basic knowledge of execution planning in a building project and the skills to prepare the required documentation. 

    The scope of the course and the level of detailing required depends on the scope of the building project and is to be agreed separately with the teacher. Done independently or in pairs. Completion of the course requires attending the exercise session and lectures. The course is part of the electives of the major in architecture, and it should be taken during the 1st or 2nd year of studies of the masterʼs degree. The course is compulsory for those doing their masterʼs thesis in building design.

    The course is rated on a scale of 0-5. The evaluation is based on a qualitative evaluation of the assignment and the work process.

    The evaluation criteria are the architectural merits of the work, the applicability of the details to the project, the functionality of the construction, technical solutions and the management of moisture, etc. risks, the readability of the produced documents and how they fulfill the task assigned to each document.
