-defend their  own aesthetic approach  and identify their professional objectives in design practice

-transform a personal collection concept into a proposition for a wider audience

-understand and manage the process of collection design in typical industry environments

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    The course consists of an individual design project supported through lectures, workshops, and critique sessions. Students design a collection based on their own approach, with a possibility to direct their specialization and working media through combined studio courses. Students learn to manage the different phases of collection design in professional practice and commercial environments, to position their own work in the professional field, and to transform a personal concept into a proposition for a wider audience. They understand the meaning of different stakeholders connected to collection design as well as concept vs product thinking.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Passing the course requires attending contact teaching sessions and completion of all individual and group assignments. Introductory session is mandatory.

Workload

    Overall workload 6 cr / 162h. Minimum 80% attendance in contact teaching is required.

Further Information

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    The core course is 6 cr and recommended to be combined with one of the advanced workshop courses: MUO-E1061 Advanced 3D shaping workshop, MUO-E1062 Advanced Knits and Knitwear Workshop, MUO-E1063 Advanced Printed Fabrics and Finishes workshop. The selection should be based on the student's personal study plan approved by their academic advisor.
