After completion of the course, student is able to:

  • evaluate surface quality
  • use advanced surface modeling tools & techniques
  • use digital sculpting as a tool for industrial design
  • design higher quality 3D surface models

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    The course provides an introduction to advanced surface modeling - what it means and takes to create high (surface) quality CAD models for product development. The course also introduces tools to incorporate digital sculpting to industrial design workflow.

    Surface quality and complexity, use of tools, attendance & activity, process

Workload

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Lectures, workshops, online material, readings, tutoring, individual work, final assignment, criticue 

    The total workload for the course amounts to 162 hours (I ECTS credits = 27.3 hours).

    - Contact teaching (including final presentation) 60 hours

    - Individual and group work 69 hours

    - Personal reflection 32 hours

    - Course feedback 1 hour

    Students must attend and display active participation in at least 80% of the contact teachings (lectures, workshops, etc.).
