After the course the students

2. have a good understanding of relevant regulations and safety aspects when working in biotechnology laboratories

Content

    This course provides the theoretical background and basic practical skills required for working in biochemistry and molecular biology as well as basic microbiology, use of aseptic technique in the laboratory, culturing pro- and eukaryotic cells, working with proteins and performing analytics with different instrumentation.

    Enrollment :

    Max. 20 students. Students in Biotechnology major are prioritized. If more than 20 students enroll, all the students of Biotechnology major are accepted, if enrolled in time. If there is space, other students (Aalto degree students and exchange students) with sufficient background in chemistry and biology can be accepted to the course.

    A course implementation may be cancelled if the number of students enrolled to the course implementation does not meet the required minimum of five students. In the case of cancelled course implementations, the students enrolled to them must be provided with an alternative way of completing the course or be advised to take some other applicable course.
