The Scenography, Production and Costume Design Lectures address the theory and practice of design for the performing and screen arts and related areas through encounters with different aspects of design for live and screen/media performance, and with the work and ideas of various professionals. The lectures stimulate critical and analytical thinking on design, culture and performance through the presentation of case studies, comparative studies, artistic work, technical aspects or theoretical concepts. The course is based on presentations by, and discussions with, invited scholars and design professionals from various fields of performance, film, media and design. The lectures include visual and audio-visual materials or other samples of work.

Attendance to four (4) lectures gives 1 credit (ECTS). The students are free to attend as many lectures as they wish.
Additional credits can be obtained if students are interested in undertaking a written or research assignment or prepare a presentation, upon agreement with the responsible professor.
Workload

Attendance to lectures/presentations and participation in in-class discussion 65 hours and reflection 16 hours of the total workload.
Attendance to four (4) lectures gives 1 credit.
Missing credits can be obtained through independent work (short written essays) upon agreement with the responsible professor.

The course can be taken over two years but can also be done in one year:
8 lectures are offered each year: this immediately gives 2 credits as per the course description (4 lectures give 1 cr).
The third credit to complete the course can be taken the following academic year (by attending another 4 lectures) or it can be done via an independent task during the same academic year. Please contact the responsible professor if you wish to undertake an independent task within the same academic year.
There is a course archive of attendances, and the attendances can accumulate over more years for completion.
