LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student is familiar with both the national and international system of financing, distribution and sales of audiovisual productions.

The student is able to do a financing strategy for concepts and projects in development and to use the relevant financing instruments available both domestically and internationally when securing production financing. The student is aware of both the theory and practice of co-productions and their importance and knows the conditions for applying funding and for seeking international financing for an audiovisual production.

This course provides the participants with an extensive understanding of development and production financing, presales and sales and the conditions for international distribution, exhibition and revenue sharing.

Content

    Different financing strategies are presented through case studies, such as presales to broadcasters and to streaming services, minimum guarantees, soft loans, tax incentives, equity financing, public funding, world sales. The participants prepare a financing plan and a co-production strategy with a schedule for a project.

     

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Approved performance is 80% attendance and sufficient participation in discussions to ensure that the teaching content is learned. 

Workload

    Contact teaching 62 h, independent work 100 h. Lectures, guests, assignments individually and team work. Materials to be studied independently.
