Content

    Practising of the basic techniques in screenprinting. Preparation of the screen through hand painting and use of exposure. Printing material used: mesh.

    Opettelemme kurssilla silkkipainon perustekniikoita

    • valotusmenetelmä, jossa kaavio valmistetaan käyttäen valoherkkää emulsiota, valotusoriginaalina voidaan käyttää piirrosta tai valokuvapohjaista  filmiä
    • erilaisia tapoja hyödyntää valokuvaa silkkipainossa
    • yksinkertaisen paperikaavion käyttö

    On the course we are learning basic screen printing techniques such as

    • Using a light-sensitive emulsion to create a stencil, where the original can be a drawing or photograph based film
    • we learn different ways of utilising  photos in screen printing 
    • the use of simple paper stencil


Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Two to three exercises, brief lectures and personal guidance.

Workload

    The course is organized as contact teaching (70 hours).

    Suorittaakseen kurssin opiskelijan on oltava läsnä kontaktiopetuksessa vähintään 80 prosenttia. 

    To pass the student must be present in the contact teaching at least 80%.

    Priority order to courses is according to the order of priority decided by the Academic committee for School of Arts, Design and Architecture, https://www.aalto.fi/en/services/registering-to-courses-and-the-order-of-priority-at-aalto-arts

    The student selection is done randomly if there are more candidates than there are number of seats. The first lecture of the course is mandatory. If the confirmed student isn’t able to attend the first lecture, the student must cancel their enrolment, and the free slot be raffled among the candidates. Passing the course requires 80 percent attendance and completion of the exercises.

    Minimum amount of participants is 8 students, maximum 15.
