LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students who successfully complete the 2ECTS version of the course should be able to demonstrate familiarity with art-practice-led and artistic research methodologies in the area of film, scenography and costume and write an essay relating to a methodological approach relevant to his/her own doctoral research. Students become familiar with different methodologies in the emerging field of art-practice-led and artistic research.

    The course introduces a variety of art-practice-led and artistic research methodologies within the fields the Department of Film, Television and Scenography represents.  What does methodology mean in the context of art-practice-led and artistic research? How can the qualitative methodologies in humanities/social sciences be integrated with practice-led and/or artistic research perspectives. What kind of methodological frameworks  artistic research/art-practice-led/practice-based research or practice as research (PAR) form for the overall approach to the praxis of our fields? The course consists of lectures, discussions, reading, essay writing and a presentation. 

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Active participation and completion of the end presentation are the most important elements in assessing the students work.
