    The course is structured so that the whole group is working with medium they are not familiar with beforehand. The goal of this course is to demonstrate the dialogue between thinking, the material world, and different media. The methods vary each year and can be e.g. glass, VHS-video or chargoal drawing.

    Assignment 1 

    1st phase

    Each student will make one singular object. These objects should be in relation to each other, to create something together. The clue element could be something conceptual or it can be purely visual and structural – or the objects can be linked together just by juxtaposition. 

    2nd phase

    Split the object in two parts by sawing and use at least one polishing or carving technique on the piece.

     

    Assignment 2

    Make presentation as a group work on one of the topics: What is glass? 1.Glass as material (chemistry and physics), 2. Environmental affects, possibilities and downsides, 3. History of Glass in culture, 4. Art/Craft. You can use the time while waiting for demonstration/tools/etc. in glass workshop to work on this. The presentations can be light, it can be collection of facts and thoughts to share and discuss….
