LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. conduct curatorial research.
  2. outline conceptual frameworks for curatorial projects.
  3. develop curatorial statements, select artistic content, and public programmes.
  4. experiment with collaborative models of working within curatorial practice.
  5. identify the scope and range of competencies required to turn ideas and research into curatorial projects.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    Students will learn how to research and formulate conceptual frameworks for curatorial projects. They will work collaboratively in groups together with course teacher(s) on planning a project from A to Z, writing a curatorial statement, selecting artistic content, public programme development, mediation and documentation.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Participation in teaching, completed assignments.

    Minimum 80% attendance.

Workload

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    6 ECTS ≈ 162h.

    Contact teaching:

    • Period III: 3h/week
    • Period IV: 5h/week

    Lectures, theoretical readings, group work, possible excursions dependent on the theme/topic, collaborative
    curating of main output.  

    Curatorial project: in groups planning, carrying out and evaluating a curating project
