At the end of the course the student:

  • understands the physics of both intact and damaged ship stability
  • knows how ship stability issues need to be considered in ship design
  • can interpret the background and meaning of ship various stability regulations
  • can apply this knowledge on design and stability analyses of own ship project.

    Hydrostatics of floating objects. Stability of an intact ship, including dynamic roll motion and stability failure modes in waves. Ship subdivision and damage stability, including probabilistic damage stability calculations.
