CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

On this multidisciplinary course, students learn advanced processes and methods related to building design process management in construction projects. The focus is on managing and coordinating interdisciplinary building project teams throughout the different design stages to ensure that design solutions are fit for purpose and comply with design requirements. Design requirements include sustainability goals, related to e.g. CO2 emissions during construction and use phase, and designing for constructability so that the building can be constructed in minimum time, minimizing carbon emissions during construction phase. The course is based on a large, multidisciplinary project assignment. Each student will have a role and project tasks. Mentors include project and design managers of the real case projects, familiar with the Owner's requirements in each case, to help steer the groups in the right direction during weekly meetings. Additionally, there is a pool of mentors from the industry (designers and builders) who can review any discipline-specific questions.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

20% individual essay, 80% project work. Project work done is multidisciplinary teams of around 10 people. Team grade is distributed to individuals based on peer review process.

Workload
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

Contact teaching around 35 hours, individual and group work around 100 hours.
